New Solar Tracking Controller for More Power
Santa Fe, New Mexico (March, 15 2011) Concentrating Solar Power (CSP) troughs, towers, and Stirling engines can now create more power due to P4Q Electronics' new Suntrack 32H solar tracking controller. CSP devices depend upon the accuracy of a controller in order to keep the sun on their pipes that create steam to move turbines. The Suntrack 32H follows the sun using the most accurate algorithm available.
“There are close to 20GW of CSP projects ready to be built around the globe”, says Aitor Alapont Suntrack Product Manager, “The industry must maximize the power created to increase the return on investment. The Suntrack 32H does this. This is a fine addition to our roster of solar tracking controllers that move DC, AC, and hydraulic motors. ”
“P4Q Electronics created the Suntrack 32H following our demands for the most accurate and feature rich controller at the lowest cost possible”, says Mr. Pedro Pacho of Groupo Elecnor responsible for the Astexol 50MW CSP power plant in Spain and the first user of the Suntrack 32H. “A product such as this gives us a strategic advantage over our competitors.”
The controller works for both hydraulic and electric motors. Included is an intuitive interface accessed via Ethernet or wirelessly. Also included is the Suntrack Sensor package that includes an absolute inclinometer, sun sensor and temperature sensor in one small package. Other sensors such as wind meters and encoders can easily be added by attaching to the controller without ever opening the box.
This is another example of innovation in the solar industry to go beyond grid parity by driving down costs and improving energy yield.
